Celebrate the planet! Buy handmade and vintage goods! Don't let one bad apple spoil the whole damn bunch. There are more the plenty talented handmade artists on Etsy and wonderful vintage shops to boot! Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity to support them and not the warehouse stores. Trust me, in the end it will be better for the economy and the planet! And don't forget to plant a tree this Friday! It's Arbor Day on Friday, April 27th, 2012!

She's crafty

In a world full of crazies it is nice to know there are creative folk doing their part to remind us that the world is still full of enchanting and wonderful things. And where does one find these folk? Well there is a little nook in the northwest where little bears run along side ice cream trucks, owls dress up in pastel cloaks, flower painted horses skip-to-my-lou and the square dancin' misses' wear apple green polka dotted bows in their hair. A place where you will find craftyFOLK. Thank you to Sarah Golden, the talented artist who founded the enchanting world of craftyFOLK! Without people like you, this world would be off its rocker! (And I can't wait to meet you in person at the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco, July 31st-August 1st!)

Take a Tax Break

Without a doubt taxes would be more fun with an old adding machine or one of those retro little professor (who looks like an owl) calculators that have a beautiful amber brown glow when the light hits them. Don't forget, you have all day to file (the standard procrastinator mantra) so take a tax break and go spend some of your hard earned refund on some lovely vintage treasures or handmade treats. And if you are really feeling fed up, just stuff your tax return into a really small envelope and pray your return makes it to Uncle Sam in time. Happy Filing!

Welcome December

Welcome December 2009! And to welcome to my virtual Advent Bingo Calendar. Each day I will be sharing with you a close up of my handmade Advent BINGO Calendar or what I have named my BINGOvent! This is my dashing attempt to try to "blog" more. (Don't hold your breath! I already missed posting this on Dec. 1st!) So without further delay, let's see what is behind window #1 ...
Whoo Whoo, it's an owl!
And owls are the hot trend this year! No, wait, owls are always the hot trend because they are so darn cool! My heart always beats fast when I see a buttercupbloom hoot owl! Meet Rutherford the Wine Country Hoot Owl! And you can meet Rutherford's Hoot Owl and other creature friends in person! Buttercupbloom and Whimsy will be selling their adorable wares at the Renegade Holiday Fair in San Francisco (@ Fort Mason) Saturday & Sunday December 19th & 20th 11am-7pm. Tune in daily to reveal a new day on my BINGOvent Advent Calendar! (full calendar shot pictured below)
the fine print: As with anything we share online, I remind you that this Advent Calendar has been an idea in the making for 2 years. Please do not attempt to steal or copy or profit from my BINGOvent! For anyone who is interested I will be making more of calendars like this and will have them available in the new year.
